External spray foam insulation & protective coating for water tanks, storage tanks and process vessels. Water tanks • process tanks • fire water tanks • chilled water • buffer vessels • calorifiers — the two-stage Nexseal LE + Gaco coating system solves heat loss, frost, condensation and UV in one integrated solution.

Nexseal LE is the ideal insulation for external tank surfaces. This closed-cell spray foam — performance declared to BS EN 14315-1 — bonds directly to steel, GRP and plastic — following the curved profile of cylindrical tanks perfectly to create a seamless thermal barrier and vapour control layer in a single application.
With a lambda value of 0.027 W/m·K, Nexseal LE delivers maximum thermal performance at minimal thickness. The spray foam prevents heat loss, frost damage and condensation — keeping tank contents at the required temperature with significantly reduced energy consumption.

Spray foam insulation degrades when exposed to UV light. External tanks are fully exposed to sunlight and weather, making a protective coating essential. The Gaco coating system completes the two-stage solution — protecting the insulation from UV degradation, rain, snow and mechanical damage.
Three Gaco coating options are available, each suited to different tank environments and exposure levels. All provide long-term UV stability, waterproofing and weather protection over the spray foam insulation, applied directly over the cured foam with no primer needed. Learn more about Gaco coatings.

Uninsulated tanks lose enormous amounts of energy. Hot water tanks, calorifiers and process vessels continuously radiate heat, driving up energy consumption and costs.
Water tanks can freeze and burst in winter. Fire water tanks, domestic water storage and exposed pipework are all vulnerable to frost damage with potentially catastrophic consequences.
Cold tanks sweat when ambient air meets the cold surface, causing corrosion, water damage and mould growth. Closed-cell foam eliminates this entirely.
Spray foam degrades rapidly under UV light. Without a protective coating, exposed foam breaks down within months — which is why the Gaco coating stage is essential.
Insulated tanks reduce heating and cooling energy significantly. The thermal barrier maintains tank temperatures with far less energy input — rapid payback on the investment.
Building Regulations and energy efficiency requirements increasingly mandate insulation on hot water storage and HVAC systems. The two-stage system meets and exceeds these standards.
Tanks require both thermal insulation and surface protection. Spray foam alone would degrade under UV exposure; traditional cladding leaves joints and gaps that allow moisture ingress. The two-stage system solves both problems in a single, integrated solution.
Stage 1: Nexseal LE spray foam is applied directly to the external tank surface, bonding to steel, GRP or plastic and following curved profiles perfectly — a seamless thermal barrier with an integral vapour barrier. Stage 2: once the foam has cured, the selected Gaco coating is applied over the entire insulated surface for UV stability, waterproofing and mechanical protection — for the lifetime of the tank, with no maintenance required.

Traditional tank insulation methods — cladding, mineral wool wraps, rigid board — all have significant drawbacks. The spray foam and coating system eliminates every one of them.
Spray foam bonds directly to cylindrical, spherical and irregular tank surfaces. No cutting, bending or fitting — the foam follows the tank profile for 100% seamless coverage.
No joints, no gaps, no cold bridges. The foam creates a continuous thermal barrier with no weak points; the Gaco coating then seals the entire surface.
Full UV stability, waterproofing and weather resistance — designed for permanent outdoor exposure with zero maintenance.
Traditional tank insulation needs metal cladding over mineral wool — expensive, heavy, prone to moisture ingress at joints. The two-stage system replaces all of that with a lighter, seamless alternative.
Most tanks are fully insulated and coated in 1–3 days. No scaffolding around the tank shell, no prefabricated sections — applied in situ directly to the tank surface.
Spray foam does not sag, compress, absorb water or degrade over time. The Gaco coating protects the foam from UV indefinitely. Insulate once, protect forever.
Three coating options for different tank environments and exposure levels. Nexseal LE performance is declared to BS EN 14315-1; the Gaco coating range is UL Listed and CRRC rated.

We assess your tank’s type, size, material, operating temperature and exposure. This determines the correct spray foam thickness and which Gaco coating is best suited.
We specify the Nexseal LE thickness and the appropriate Gaco coating, and provide a fixed-price quotation covering both stages, fully installed. No hidden charges.
Enverge-trained applicators from our approved installer network spray Nexseal LE directly onto the external tank surface, following curved profiles perfectly.
The selected Gaco coating is applied over the cured spray foam. UV protection, waterproofing and weather resistance — the system is now complete.
The most common application. Hot tanks lose heat constantly through uninsulated walls; cold tanks are vulnerable to freezing. Comprehensive thermal protection for domestic, commercial and industrial storage.
Chemical reactions, food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing — all need temperature stability. Foam provides the thermal barrier; the Gaco coating adds chemical and weather resistance.
Cold tanks condense and drip, causing corrosion, mould and water damage. The closed-cell foam acts as both insulation and vapour barrier, stopping moisture reaching the cold surface entirely.
A frozen fire water tank means no fire protection — a potentially catastrophic compliance failure. Spray foam prevents freezing even in the harshest winters.
Calorifiers store large volumes of hot water. The foam creates a high-performance thermal envelope that dramatically reduces standing heat losses and cuts energy bills.
HVAC buffer vessels store hot or chilled water to balance supply and demand. The two-stage system provides seamless coverage on these often awkwardly shaped vessels.
