Enverge Nexseal closed-cell spray foam

Insulation that is sprayed, not fixed. Nexseal expands into every profile, rib and awkward junction and bonds to the deck as it cures — no fixings through the roof, no rails bridging the insulation, no gaps for air to move through. Two grades: Nexseal 2.0 for thin lifts, Nexseal LE for deep builds.

Two grades, one chemistry

Same closed-cell foam. The grade you want depends on how thick you are going.

Under 50 mm

Enverge Nexseal 2.0

The thin-lift grade. Where the job is about stopping condensation on a cold metal deck rather than hitting a U‑value, you are spraying 25–40 mm and you want a controlled, even build.

Over 50 mm

Enverge Nexseal LE

The thermal-upgrade grade, and the one most commercial specifications land on. Low‑exothermic, so it can be built up in deep passes without the heat problems that limit ordinary closed‑cell foam.

Metal decks & soffits

Sprayed straight onto the underside. It fills every rib and follows the profile, so there is no void behind the insulation for warm air to reach a cold surface and condense.

Concrete soffits & undercrofts

Sprayed direct onto the slab where there is no cavity to fill and no room for a board build-up. It follows the soffit, seals around services, and needs no fixings into the concrete.

Contiguous and sheet piling infilled with foam instead of shotcrete — lighter, faster, and insulating rather than just filling. Overcoated where it is exposed to UV.

It self-bonds as it cures. Nothing penetrates the deck and there are no rails or brackets running cold straight through the insulation line.

The foam is the insulation and the air barrier in one pass. Junctions, laps and service penetrations get sealed by the same material, not by tape and hope.

Resists water, not just heat

Closed-cell structure with declared water absorption of 0.41 kg/m² to BS EN 1609, and a vapour resistance factor of µ 62 — which is why it survives on roofs and below ground.

Fits geometry that boards cannot

Corrugations, trusses, curved shells, piling voids, plant plinths. Anywhere a rigid board would need cutting, packing and taping, foam just goes on.

One Nexseal set yields approximately 10,000 m² × mm of applied foam — 400 m² at 25 mm, 200 m² at 50 mm, 100 m² at 100 mm. A 10% allowance for site loss and overspray is included, and whole sets are always rounded up. Profiled and pitched surfaces need a slope and profile allowance on top of the plan area. The U‑value shown is indicative only — foam at λ 0.027 W/m·K plus standard surface resistances (Rsi 0.10, Rse 0.04) over a metal deck; the real figure comes from a calculation on the actual build-up. Condensation risk should be assessed to BS 5250:2021; an additional AVCL may be required depending on the build-up. In habitable and occupied spaces an approved thermal barrier over the foam is normally required — check the fire strategy and insurer requirements for the building.

How a Nexseal job runs

Five stages. The thickness records in stage four are what the warranty rests on.

Survey

Substrate, moisture, existing build-up and the target U‑value. This decides grade and thickness.

Prepare

Clean, dry, sound substrate. Rooflights, services and plant masked off; substrate and ambient temperature and RH logged.

3

Spray

Built up in controlled passes to the specified depth, following the profile of the deck.

4

Record

Depth gauged and logged, batch numbers captured, photo record taken. No records, no warranty.

5

Protect

Thermal barrier where the fire strategy requires it, or a UV-stable coating where the foam is exposed.

Common questions

What is the difference between Nexseal 2.0 and Nexseal LE?
Same closed-cell chemistry, different jobs. We specify Nexseal 2.0 where the build is under 50 mm — anti-condensation coats and thin lifts. Nexseal LE is the grade for builds over 50 mm, where you are chasing a U‑value rather than just killing condensation.
What thickness of Nexseal do I need?
It depends on the U‑value the project has to hit, which comes out of the Part L calculation for that building. As a rough guide on a metal deck, 100 mm gets you near 0.26 W/m²K and 150 mm near 0.18 W/m²K. Send us the target and the build-up and we will tell you the thickness, free of charge.
Does Nexseal need to be mechanically fixed?
No. Closed-cell foam is spray-applied and self-bonds to the substrate as it cures. There are no fixings, no penetrations through the deck, and no rails to thermally bridge the insulation.
Does Nexseal act as a vapour control layer?
Nexseal LE has a declared water vapour resistance factor of µ 62 to BS EN 12086, and meets one perm or less at 40.6 mm. It is still a design question — condensation risk should be assessed to BS 5250, and an additional AVCL may be required depending on the build-up.
What certification does Nexseal carry?
It is CE and UKCA marked, with declared thermal and mechanical values to BS EN 14315-1 and a BS 476 Part 7 Class 1 reaction-to-fire result. It carries a 25-year manufacturer-backed product warranty, which Duratite (CRO 821494) issues.
Does it need a thermal barrier over it?
In habitable and occupied spaces, yes — an approved thermal barrier such as DC315 is normally required over exposed foam. Check the fire strategy for the building and the insurer requirements before you specify.
How much does one set cover?
A Nexseal set yields approximately 10,000 m² × mm of applied foam — 400 m² at 25 mm, 200 m² at 50 mm, or 100 m² at 100 mm. Allow around 10% on top for site loss and overspray. The calculator above does the arithmetic.
