This closed-cell spray foam — performance declared to BS EN 14315-1 — bonds directly to the underside of corrugated metal, asbestos cement and cement fibre roof sheets — creating a seamless thermal barrier, vapour control layer and structural reinforcement in a single application.

With a lambda value of 0.027 W/m·K, Nexseal LE delivers exceptional thermal performance at minimal thickness, preserving valuable headroom in tall hangar structures.

Eliminating hangar condensation: uninsulated hangars suffer massive condensation problems — warm moist air meets cold metal roofing, creating persistent dripping that damages aircraft, equipment and infrastructure. Condensation on aircraft surfaces causes corrosion, paint damage and electrical faults; water on electrical panels, lighting and mechanical equipment creates safety hazards. Closed-cell foam raises the internal surface temperature above the dew point and prevents moisture formation entirely — no separate VCL membranes, taping or mechanical fixings needed.

Corrugated metal, asbestos cement and cement fibre

Single-skin corrugated metal is the most common hangar roof type — and the single biggest cause of condensation and heat loss. Many older hangars carry asbestos cement or cement fibre sheets instead. Nexseal LE handles all three.

Commercial MRO Hangars

Maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities need controlled temperature and humidity for paint shops, avionics and composite repairs. Nexseal LE at 50–80mm delivers it, with fire rating options.

Former Military Hangars

How long does it take to insulate a hangar?
Most hangar projects are completed in 2–7 days depending on size and complexity. Application rates of 500–1,000m² per day are typical. The foam cures in minutes with no drying time or follow-up trades required.
Does spray foam strengthen hangar roof sheets?
Yes. Closed-cell spray foam creates a rigid composite with the existing roof sheets, reducing movement, flexing and rattle caused by wind. Compressive strength of 78 kPa (BS EN 14315-1, typical published value) adds significant structural rigidity to ageing metal or cement fibre sheeting.
Can a hangar be insulated while still in use?
Yes. Our teams work bay-by-bay using boom lifts and scissor lifts. The foam sets in minutes with no wet trades. Aircraft, vehicles and equipment can remain in adjacent bays during installation.
How much does it cost to insulate a hangar?

What is cement fibre roofing and can it be insulated?
Cement fibre corrugated sheets replaced asbestos cement from the 1980s onward. Spray foam bonds to the textured surface, providing insulation, condensation control and structural reinforcement in a single application — the same process used for metal and asbestos cement roofing.
Does hangar spray foam come with a warranty?
Yes. Nexseal LE and Sucraseal carry manufacturer product warranties. Installations carried out through our approved installer network are covered by a 10-year workmanship guarantee on hangar projects. What fire rating does spray foam achieve in hangars?
Nexseal LE closed-cell spray foam can be specified to Euroclass B-s2-d0 when overcoated with DC315 intumescent coating for projects requiring enhanced fire performance.
