This closed-cell spray foam — performance declared to BS EN 14315-1 — bonds directly to the curved corrugated steel walls and roof — following the cylindrical profile perfectly to create a seamless thermal barrier, vapour control layer and anti-condensation coating in a single application.

With a lambda value of 0.027 W/m·K, Nexseal LE delivers maximum thermal performance at minimal thickness. For grain stores, a thin 15–25mm coat eliminates condensation. For silo conversions, 50–80mm+ between timber studs achieves TGD L compliance.

Protecting stored grain: condensation on uninsulated steel causes grain caking, mould growth and mycotoxin development — directly reducing the value and safety of stored grain. By raising the internal surface temperature above the dew point and stabilising the overall silo temperature, the foam prevents moisture from ever reaching the grain — reducing spoilage, quality downgrading and re-drying costs, permanently.

Why do grain silos get condensation?
Grain silos are typically single-skin corrugated steel with no insulation. When warm moist air — including moisture released naturally by stored grain — meets the cold steel walls and roof, moisture condenses on the surface. Temperature fluctuations between day and night accelerate the problem, causing condensation to drip onto stored grain, promoting mould, caking and mycotoxin contamination.
How does spray foam protect stored grain?
Closed-cell spray foam bonds to the curved corrugated steel, raising the internal surface temperature above the dew point. This eliminates condensation completely. The foam also stabilises the overall silo temperature, preventing the rapid heating and cooling cycles that cause grain sweating and moisture migration. The result is a stable, dry storage environment.
